Prodways Group is above all a team of passionate men and women about 3D printing. The teams are experts in their field, but their passion does not stop at work. Julien, one of the collaborators, asked for his partner’s hand in marriage and wished to design a unique piece of jewelry for her.

Together, they visited several Parisian jewelers to discover what could please them and inspire them. But after several visits, they realized they wanted a much more personal piece with a unique stone. And that’s when the project became more ambitious: to make the perfect ring by himself.

The steps to design a ring for 3D printing

After sketching a design with a pencil, Julien applied his experience with 3D modeling software to shape their ideas digitally. He also went to Antwerp to find an artisan who could accompany him in the realization of this very particular project for him.

A piece of jewelry is much more than a simple material object; it is a piece charged with emotions and stories that reflects the personality of its owner. The choice of jewelry is therefore often motivated by the desire to mark an important moment in life or to celebrate a particular relationship.

3D printing in lost wax for jewelry

Lost wax 3D printing is a revolutionary technique for jewelers who want to create high-end custom jewelry. With this technology, it is possible to produce precise and complex models to meet clients’ demands. Designers can then free themselves from the technical constraints of traditional manufacturing and benefit from greater creative freedom. This allows for the design of complex and unique pieces that precisely correspond to clients’ expectations. Julien was able to easily print several models on the printer until he was satisfied.

He then embarked on the search for the perfect stone for this unique piece of jewelry. The depth of the color was a crucial criterion for them, and the agreement between the different stones was an additional challenge. Once the final choice was made, he refined the design to highlight its beauty and the way light passes through it. He then entrusted the manufacturing of the ring to the artisan.

A few years later, he reunited with this artisan, who confided that this shared adventure had left a mark on several of his colleagues. They had never met such passionate and involved clients in the design of their jewelry.

This story illustrates the passion that animates Prodways Group’s collaborators, whether at work or in their personal lives.
